It's nice to be home
Sep. 19th, 2004 02:18 pmWell, the trip was a success. My parents now have a computer ordered which they'll get in about 2 weeks. My brother can worry about the installation as he lives in the same city.
The trip in the new car was very pleasant. I have much better rear vision in this car than the old Mazda, the ride was smooth, the cruise control works (it doesn't come standard, which is really silly), we had a nice variety of cds to listen to on the way (Deadly Nightshades, Queen, Carmina Burana, Mozart Clarinet & Bassoon Concertos).
Because we were looking at computers, we checked out the new iMac - very spiffy, though not quite as sleek looking as it appears in photographs. The 20 inch wide screen monitor, on the other hand....
But my parents finally ended up with a Dell. At least that way there'll be someone relatively close at hand (my brother) to help out if there are problems.
We left Canberra at about 3.30 and got home in time to quickly feed cats, get changed and head out to Rachel's birthday celebration.
It was great to catch up with Rachel again - she's been over to Burning Man and was still enthused about it. Also caught up with a few other friends (Tanya and Don) that I haven't seen for ages. But we were tired and piked out at about 10.30.

I understand from Tanya that they're now back in WA. And you've got more of their stuff than I. I've only got one cd - Real Face.
