Cat and mouse
Apr. 24th, 2008 05:47 pmAs many of you may remember, we took custody of
wenchilada's cat Errol in February. Here's a picture of Errol on the leather lounge that is her favourite sleeping place at the moment.
Errol, as it turns out, is an excellent mouser. Not that we have mice, but I think the school up the back does. Or should I say, we didn't have mice! Now we have mouse!
Errol, being a tidy cat, brings her mice back to her eating place int he kitchen and usually eats it (no, really not a lot left to clean up after).
This was ok the first couple of times. On the third mouse (mouse catching spread over many days), she must have momentarily lost concentration and the mouse got away. We've been trying to eliminate it ever since. It's far too smart to come out while the cat's around and can manage to take the bait off a mousetrap without setting it off.
Ironically, it was mainly living off cat food. We've now put out new traps and told the cat that she needs to do her bit towards getting rid of it (not that she took much notice - she's a cat after all). Keeping our finger crossed.
