Three sleeps to go

Till we head off for NZ.

We have flights organised, we have car organised and we have accommodation organised! Cat feeding organised as well!

We also have bought a whole heap of wet and cold weather bushwalking gear as I suspect it will be a bit chilly this time of year.

Also got return visa organised (nearly forgot that one)!

Still a whole pile of things to do, but it will all happen - at least the absolutely vital parts of it, like packing.

However, I need to buy some woolen fabric while I'm over there. Does anyone on my flist know a good fabric shop in either Wellington or Auckland?

While we timed this trip so that we could go to May Crown, it's not at all certain that Styvyn will be able to fight - he has an elbow injury. So we may just get to watch and feast instead. :)

This post seems just a bit disjointed, but I think that's because I'm thinking about other things.

You need a return visa??? I didn't need one from Christchurch in January. Just curious, but why d'you require it?

That would be because I'm not an Australian citizen. :)

Yes I knew that, you furren born person you. However, I thought you would've taken out Aust Citizenship by now. Does a visa cost much? Just had my passport renewed and bloody hell I'd forgotten how much of a whack it is. The new online system works well though. Just got an email yesterday to say it should turn up by reg. mail within a week. It was interesting looking at Will's passport last night with my black light torch (for grading diamonds). The paper is special stock and has little white flecks through the entire book. $200 for dandruff!

If they've stopped asking me what the name of the ship I came in on was, I'll do the application. I was 2 years old - how would I know? Also, because of British citizenship and having arrived before a certain cutoff date, I have all citizen rights, including voting. It's on my list and a friend and I are planning on doing it together.

As it was just the tranfer of a permanent return visa from one passport to another, it cost nothing except a bit of a wait at immigration.

I expect all passports are printed on special paper these days. I wonder if each country has different stuff and, if so, which has the most interesting pattern.

Funny you should mention about the paper in passports. We were looking at Will's passport the other night and we thought we could see some strangely wavy lines that appeared and disappeared. I went and dug out my uv long wave torch that I use for grading the fluorescence in diamonds and low and behold, not only did the wavy lines show up but there are hidden flecks like you find in japanese papers, all the way throughout the passport as well as a hidden number just above where they put your photo.

Just got txt from home (his day off) to say my passport is ready to pick up too. By the time you read this you'll have been to NZ and had a bloody good time :)
