well, that was a depressing election result! It's bad enough that Howard got in for another 3 years, but that Family First should have got such a large percentage of the vote is just demoralising.

Spent the evening watching the results come in with Styvyn,[livejournal.com profile] zarabee and[livejournal.com profile] timur_i_lenk. We drowned our sorrows in vodka, though Styvyn rather overdid it on the vodka - especially as he was on antibiotics. I don't think we'll get any redecorating done today.

They didn't... FF got bugger all of the vote. They're going to get a Victorian Senator by preference flow-on... Because Labor and the Dems put them above the Greens. They went mad, is all I can think.

Yes, I was reading about that. They certainly weren't thinking about what was actually best outcome for the country. I doubt that they considered the possibility that FF might end up with a senate seat and may even have the balance of power (I don't know if that's decided yet).

That said, they still got more votes nationwide than I think is a good thing.
