Don't do this at home

Or anywhere else for that matter.

Friday I was puttering around at home. Went to get a pen to write down a message from the answering machine and on the way back to the phone it was forcibly brought to my attention that the various stuffs that had been put somewhere temporarily had accumulated to the level of an OH&S hazard!

The small chest (smallest of the three we take to Festival) had been temporarily put by the side coffee table. I managed to tip quite drastically on it after hitting it with my left foot. I didn't manage to regain my balance and my head hit the side of the entertainment unit (a low one about coffee table height) damn hard!

After about half an hour spent recovering some level of calm, I assessed the damage. A quick examination in the mirror revealed no blood and that my eyes were both responding normally to light - but the tenderness was pretty special and what do I know about head trauma, really? So a trip to the doctor was called for and resulted in x-rays etc, but all is well. Still b****y hurts though.

But the really scary thing was that only a couple of inches different and I could have got the corner of the entertainment unit through my eye.

We've put a few things away now.

OMG!!! Scary stuff! I hope S was there at the time? Our place ain't much better and the number of times I've tripped over cables needs more digits or an abacus. They are temporary set ups as the triple E comes out nightly or mobiles get charged...

How are you feeling now? Any delayed stuff happening or is settling down nicely? Must be one helluvan egg on your scone! Living on my own at Westleigh for that year really hit it to me about being alone and having accidents in the home. Makes the statistics more understandable. I came quite close to buying one of those alarm thingies. Esp when I had a series of dizzy spells. Take care and hopefully will see you tomorrow night. Break time is over :)

S was at work so that made it particularly scary when I thought about all possible outcomes. However, one can't go through life worrying about every possible accident. Heck, driving the car is just as dangerous - went past a rather nasty accident today on the way to work - they were still cutting someone out of the car.

I'm feeling better - still some painful bruises. Anyone goes near the right side of my head is still likely to get an unexpected response.

Hope you make it tomorrow. It will be good to catch up.

OMG echoed. Sorry for the late comment, I'm too sporadic for words!

Firstly, thank TFSM that you are ok and all is well now. Is it not some what startling that this is the kind of thing it takes to make one Put Stuff Away. That is, actually make a concerted effort to STORE things as distinct from move them around in a vague attempt at clearing a temporary space.

Many hugs, sore heads are never pleasant.

Thanks. I still have some interesting bruises but am now able to open my mouth wide enough to eat a sandwich. :)

I'm hoping that the salutary lesson will mean that things don't get quite so bad again.
