I've been thinking about Tilly and wrote this. Don't read if you have problems with sentimental reminiscing about recently lost pets.

Tilly arrived on my doorstep about 13 years ago. She was about 6 years old and not desexed. Who knows how long she’d been on the streets, but she was a survivor. She turned up with Tux - who might have been one of her kittens at one stage but was then about 18 months old. They were both pretty wild and wary.Over the next few months I fed them and gradually gained their trust enough for them to let me pat them. From then on domestication proceeded very quickly - though they never came to love going to the vet.

Tilly may very well have been with people as a kitten. She took to almost all aspects of living with humans very quickly. She loved being patted and, at the risk of being mawkishly anthropomorphic, I would say she appeared to be very grateful to have found a home again (I never felt this of Tux, who just took it as his due, so there was something different in their attitudes). I surmise that she was and was fussed over and then discarded when she became pregnant. Of course I don’t know that this is true, she might have been well loved and just got lost during a move or something.

She loved having her head stroked from nose and over the ears. She could get so ecstatic over this that she could fall over if you stopped. She had the loudest purr of any cat I’ve ever heard, while being one of the smallest cats I’ve ever had. You could hear her purr from the other end of the house (though it’s not a huge house).

She loved to sit on a lap, she loved being patted, but could only stand to be actually held for about 1 minute. She liked to have the third chair to sit on when we ate breakfast ouside at the weekends. She loved sleeping on my shoulder while I was sleeping; or my chest. When Styvyn moved in, she discovered that her other favourite way of being patted was long alternating full body length strokes.

She was a very lovely and loving cat, and I’ll miss her so much
