Well, Rowany Festival is over again for another year. It was certainly an interesting one. Any event where your tent decides to break can has to be classed as interesting. One of the centrepoles on our double bell tent broke (the wind was pretty strong, but still..). Fortunately, we weren't in it and only noticed when we passed it on the way to the tavern. We didn't ever make it to tavern that night.

Fortunately, it was the last night and cars were allowed on site. So we dropped the tent and set up in the truck! Had the added advantage that we were practically packed the next morning.

I'd been a bit paranoid about the centrepoles since we got the tent last festival. The bowed a lot then, but didn't break. This year the bowing was much worse - positively frightening to watch and even Styvyn was getting a bit worried about it. Still, they'd made it through most of Festival, so I think we were both surprised when one actually did break. One more thing to fix before next Festival.

Other than that, Festival was very enjoyable - though the meals were a bit meat heavy for my taste. I like a good proportion of veggies. I wasn't the only one to feel vegetable-deprived, and there were discussions about how to fix it next year.

My new circle cloak worked very well - even in the wind it provided lots of warmth. However, the days turned out not to be a s hot as expected, so I only got to wear one of the chitons that I made - but it was really cool to wear and it and the other one will be available for next summer.

As usual, we've come back from festival brimming with plans for what we're going to do for the next one. I don't think there's enough time for us to get them all done in a year unless we give up work. Hmmm - no work, no money, no festival - maybe not the best plan.

So what are the plans:

For me - I need to
- finish the cloak trim, neatening and shortening just a little,
- make a separate hood for the cloak,
- make a couple of chemises (quick and easy, but still)
- make at least one new undertunic (black - it will go nicely under lots of stuff)
- make a middle eastern outfit
- make a Tudor outfit
- make an heraldic surcoat.

that's all the garb - not too bad unless you remember that I'm not really good at sewing. Styvyn has a whole pile of things he needs to make as well. I'm not going to try to list them, but he really does need a new gambeson!

Whole rafts of ideas for making camping more comfortable and the site prettier. So, in no particular order
- wooden floor for tent (this was on the list for this year, but didn't quite get off the ground (so to speak). I do hope it happens for next year.
- new centrepoles (though this requires more money than time)
- a fence type of thing (out of hessian, probably) around the tent (where the ropes peg down) with our and blue feather devices on it
- finish the canopy for the bed.

Styvyn plans to up his fighting this year and to GET FIT!! I also plan to get fit (but not in capitals) but also have various bits of embroidery etc to do. And, of course, the SCA isn't our whole life (though at this time of year, it certainly feels like it), so we will also be role-playing, dancing, singing (well, just me for that one, but MUS is having three concerts this year, so very busy there as well), working and socialising...oh, and starting a business. Has anybody got a rut out there that I could rest in for a while??
